Every Friday, August through September, you will find Charles E. Cilley, Sr. at the Des Plaines Methodist Campground at 7 p.m. He presents a traditional camp meeting in one of the buildings. In another era, camp meetings were conducted outdoors.
The Cilleys have owned a cottage at the Historic Methodist Campground for 22 years.
“The public is invited to participate in praise and worship, a short message and prayer ministry and testimonies,” said Cilley, an 82-year-old associate evangelist in the United Methodist Church (UMC). He is the executive director of P & C Ministries whose mission is to be an agent of change creating unity within the community through the commonality of Jesus Christ.
